This is a key question for all involved in the installation of solid-fuel boilers or anyone contemplating the purchase of a boiler. From a technical point of view, ATMOS gasifying boilers have the following advantages over classic combustion boilers.
High efficiency - 81 - 89 % in a regulation range of 30 - 100 % output throughout the boiler service life. (compared to classic obsolete combustion boilers, whose real efficiency is around 70 %, which are made of cast iron or steel, and whose regulation is significantly limited and obsolete). The higher efficiency of gasifying boilers -- on average by 15 % -- and perfect output control bring fuel savings of up to 20 - 30 % versus the above-mentioned classic boilers.
Ecological operation. Due to their design, ATMOS gasifying boilers achieve low emission values. They obtained the "Ecologically desirable product" trademark owing to the above facts. As an example of the combustion, we give the DC 32S gasifying boiler for wood, on which CO = 488 mg/m 3, GOC = 118 mg/m 3 and dust = 11 mg/m 3 (converted to 10% O 2) were measured and C18S gasifying boiler for coal and wood, on which CO = 615 mg/m 3, OGC = 37 mg/m 3 and dust 50mg/m 3 (converted to 10% O 2) were measured with brown coal at the nominal output. In view of the new ÈSN EN 303-5 standard, which is applicable in the Czech Republic as well, our Class 3 boilers, with their characteristics, meet this standard at the nominal output. For illustrative purposes, this is why the BUDERUS and SIEGER company has been selling ATMOS boilers in the EU since the year 2002.
Due to stringent standards, classic combustion boilers are practically not used in these countries, the reason being that these massive smoke polluters of Czech towns and villages are not sellable. ATMOS boilers have been awarded the "Ecologically Friendly Product" label. For illustrative purposes, the CO limits of boilers for biological and fossil fuels (e.g. coal and wood) of up to 50 kW, required according to ÈSN EN 303-5 by the State Testing Laboratory in Brno, are as follows:

Comfortable heating and easy operation. Due to their high efficiency, fuel is added into ATMOS gasifying boilers two to three times every 24 hours. Ordinary logs (330 - 1000 mm long) can be used for heating depending on output; logs dont even have to be chopped smaller. This saves time and money. This is in contrast to the earlier classic boilers, which were designed rather for coke and brown coal, and which have short fireboxes and are now sold as special wood fuel boilers. The wood for these boilers has to be cut and chopped to size to fit in the firebox and prevent jamming during combustion. Such small pieces of wood also burn much faster.
A new innovation, especially handy for women, is the so-called exhaust fan, which prevents the boiler from smoking into the room when wood is added, as is the case with classic boilers. Another advantage of ATMOS gasifying boilers is the gasifying jet or patented gasifying grate, which enables easy ash removal from the fuel during boiler operation. In practice, this means we do not have to handle the grate at all because everything is designed in such a way that we do not have to go to the boiler room every two hours (e.g. in the case of coal producing large quantities of ash) or handle the grate as is the case of classic boilers (you do not need any tools like for cast-iron boilers). Cleaning is another positive attribute of gasifying boilers. ATMOS boilers are equipped with a special flue duct without a tube-plate, which, in the case of wood, can be cleaned twice per season unlike the above-mentioned tube-plate, which requires cleaning once a week. Thanks to the exhaust fan, cleaning and removal of ash is practically dust-free.
